Description

A mermaid paper doll that moves, pose by pose

Both dolls are joined with real brads, and the second photo shows each of them in two poses: the mermaid with her tail curled or stretched out and an arm raised, the princess with her arm up or holding the fan out to the side. The bird and the fish are small separate figures that the dolls can hold. These are paper dolls of the jointed kind, held together with pins rather than folding tabs.

Drawn by hand, coloured by hand. The colour page keeps the look of the original drawing, with the pencil lines and the hand-coloured texture of the scales, the hair and the striped skirt. The line art page is the same drawing without colour, so you can colour the mermaid paper doll and the princess yourself first, with coloured pencils or markers, and cut afterwards.

How to make it: print, cut, punch, assemble

• Print at 100% (Actual Size), not Fit to Page, on white card stock.
• Cut out each piece along its outline.
• Punch every marked dot; a marked dot is a brad position.
• Join the pieces with mini brads. If you use the line art version, colour it first, then cut.

• Sharp scissors or a craft knife
• An awl or a small hole punch
• Small paper brads (split pins)
