The set has wide flare pants with a front belly panel that sits over the baby bump, and a strapless tube top with darts that leave room for the belly. Both pieces are sewn in stretch knit. The pattern is made for Regular dolls. The dolls, belly attachments and fabrics in the photos are not included.

Flare pants and a tube top for a pregnant doll
The photos show the set in burgundy, in deep teal, and as a dusty rose top with navy pants. The pants are pull-on, with no closure: the belly panel covers the bump at the front, and the legs flare out wide down to the feet. The top is strapless, ends at the waist of the pants and closes at the back with hook-and-loop tape. The centre front of the top can be gathered for a softer look, or left smooth. The pants and the top are separate pieces of maternity clothes, so the doll can also wear the pants with another top.
Doll maternity pants sewing pattern for Regular dolls
This doll maternity pants sewing pattern is drafted for a Regular 11.5 in doll wearing a pregnant belly, and the samples in the photos were sewn on Regular dolls. The set is made to fit the belly sewn from our pregnant doll belly sewing pattern. If you use a different belly, such as one printed from our pregnant belly 3D print files or one from another shop, the fit may differ a little; the very stretchy knit gives some room. Skill level, fabric and supplies
- Skill level: beginner. Every step of the doll maternity pants sewing pattern and the top is shown with photos. A sewing machine with a zigzag stitch helps, and the small pieces can also be sewn by hand. Two sets of instructions come with the pattern: the full step-by-step PDF with photos, and a short version for experienced sewists who only need the order of the seams.
- Fabric: highly elastic stretch knit only. The pants have no elastic at the waist and the top has none at the edges, so a knit that does not stretch will not go over the belly. Try the pattern on an old T-shirt or a pair of leggings before you cut your good fabric.
- Stitch: a zigzag stitch keeps the seams stretchy; with a very stretchy knit a straight stitch also works. Our sewing basics guide shows what a zigzag stitch looks like and how to test a stretchy fabric.
- You need: the printed pattern, stretch knit, hook-and-loop tape for the back of the top (or small snaps), matching thread, a hand sewing needle, fabric scissors, pins, and a graphite pencil or vanishing fabric marker.
- Seam allowance, 3 mm, is included.
Printing
Print the doll maternity pants sewing pattern at 100% (Actual Size), not Fit to Page. Both paper sizes are included, A4 and US Letter. Before you cut, measure the 1 cm and 1 inch calibration squares on the sheet with a ruler. No printer? Open the PDF, zoom until the 1 cm square on screen measures exactly 1 cm, and trace the pieces through thin paper; a print shop can also print it at 100%. The SVG files hold the same pieces at real size for cutting machines and vector programs.
